Dear. Shimane Prefectural Government

Hello. This is Jinhwan Yoon, a high-schooler from Seoul, South Korea.
While browsing your website, I found a serious error on the website below.
https://www.pref.shimane.lg.jp/admin/pref/takeshima/web-takeshima/takeshima02/syucho-english.html
You have been using the map that refers to 'Dokdo' as 'Takeshima'. But I want to inform you that 'Dokdo' is the correct name for the island and the reasons are as follows.

º»·Ð
Some Japanese still use the term 'Takeshima' to describe the island on the East Sea. They argue that the island is their territory. But it is obvious that Dokdo ha never been the territory of Japan. Numerous historical records support that Dokdo has always been the territory of South Korea. In Samguksagi, one of the oldest historical books in existence, there is a record that An Yong-bok, who was the fisherman of Silla, conquered Usanguk. Also, the distance between the Oki island, the nearest island of Japan from Dokdo, is about 157 kilometers, which is approximately 68 kilometers farther than Korea's Ulleungdo. The Sejong chronicles, the official letter during Joseon dynasty, also mentions that the distance between Ulleungdo and Dokdo is close enough to see Dokdo from the other if the weather is fine. In 1900, Dokdo was officially incorporated into Gangwon-do province through the forty-first article of Korea's imperial order. Even some documents in Japan support that 'Dokdo' is the appropriate name and that the territory belongs to Korea.

Even though there are countless historical records proving that Dokdo is South Korea's territory, Japan is keep arguing because Dokdo contains valuable resources. I ask you to make corrections on your website to deliver correct information to your visitors.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely

Jinhwan Yoon
